The option of resuming gas supplies to Europe, but under US control, is being considered.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump are in discussions regarding the possible reopening of the Nord Stream pipelines, but under Washington's control.

This is reported by Berliner Zeitung.

The US has plans for Nord Streams

The talks are being held informally and without EU participation.

The issue of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, which were damaged in explosions in September 2022, has allegedly become part of wider geopolitical consultations between Moscow and Washington.

Officially, the project is considered effectively closed and the pipelines remain unusable. At the same time, according to sources close to the Russian side, the option of resuming gas supplies to Europe is being discussed, but already under US control.

The Berliner Zeitung notes that it is a question of possible participation of US investors in the restoration or acquisition of part of the infrastructure. Among the potentially interested parties is mentioned investor Steven Lynch, who previously worked with Russian energy assets.

It is noted that in Germany the official position remains unchanged - Berlin supports the EU sanctions policy against Russia and does not consider the resumption of gas pipelines. At the same time, information about possible negotiations without the participation of the European Union sparked a discussion about the risks to Europe's energy security.

No official confirmations from Moscow or Washington have been made yet.
