He was shot.

U.S. Secret Service agents and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office personnel shot and killed a man who illegally entered the secure perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, announced Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

A man in his early 20s was seen at the north gate of Mar-a-Lago Manor with a shotgun-like object and a can of fuel. U.S. Secret Service agents and a sheriff's deputy "confronted" the man and opened fire during the confrontation.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Guglielmi clarified. The incident is being investigated by the FBI, and the motives of the deceased are not yet known.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said it is not known if the suspect's weapon was loaded. When officers found the man with a canister of gasoline and a shotgun, they ordered him to drop the items, but he dropped the canister and raised the shotgun to the firing position. The agents then opened fire to "neutralize the threat," Bradshaw stated.
