The dictator was afraid that the AFU would strike back.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has told about a conversation with Lukashenko at the beginning of the war. The dictator was afraid that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would strike back, the Ukrainian president told "Zerkalo":
- This is some kind of phantasmagoria, to be honest. First of all, we have to remember what phone he [Alexander Lukashenko] called - it's unlikely to be my phone. But, nevertheless, I talked to him. Second: he apologized, and he was very afraid that we would strike [in response]. And he himself said: "Go ahead, strike the plant," because he didn't know what we could do. And I think he realized that we were "not finished" in the first 24 hours - not finished with our people, not finished with our army, and not finished with me personally. And when he realized that, he started looking for an opportunity to communicate with me. He did - I didn't want to. I did not immediately react, I did not want to talk, I was angry with him terribly. And that's basically what we had a conversation with him.
A Belarusian propaganda is propaganda. And I have witnesses of this conversation, and if it is necessary sometime, I think, it will be possible to read this conversation.
We remind you that on January 6, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky told in an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman that Lukashenko allegedly suggested he retaliate with a strike on a Belarusian oil refinery.
"I told him [Lukashenko] that he is just as much a murderer, and he told me: 'Understand, you can't go to war with the Russians.' I told him, "How did you let it happen?" He says, "All right, knock the refinery, you know how much it means to me." I said to him, "What are you talking about?" - said Zelensky.
