Volunteers From 75 Countries Help Defend Ukraine

Foreigners from 75 countries serve in the units of the AFU Ground Forces. They take part in the defense of Ukraine from Russian aggression.

About this in an interview with "Donbass Realia" said the deputy head of the department of coordination of military service of foreigners in the AFU Konstantin Milevsky.

He noted that every month about 600 citizens of other countries sign a contract with the units of the Ground Forces.

"Now it is a little colder. People from warm countries are not leaving too much. We can subtract up to 50 people from those 600. When it gets warmer, there will be a little more. But we are talking about an average figure," Milevsky said.

According to him, the total number of foreign citizens who at one time or another signed a contract with the units of the Ground Forces is more than 10 thousand.

Milevsky pointed out that Ukraine accepts only such a number of volunteers to whom it is able to "pay attention". This is about:

fighting alignment;

equipment with weapons;

equipment with uniforms.

"It is possible, of course, to increase the number to a notional thousand, one and a half and ten, but if there is no one to deal with these people, there will be no result," he said.

foreigners are also fighting on the side of Ukraine as part of the units of the Main Directorate of Intelligence and the National Guard. In the Defense Forces, they have the same rights and duties as Ukrainian citizens. But the main difference is that foreign citizens can terminate the contract at will after serving for six months.
