The Ukrainian military has significantly advanced east of Verbovoye.
The Ukrainian military during the February offensive in the southern direction of the front liberated a number of settlements.
This is reported by ISW.
It is noted that geolocation videos published on February 21 show that the AFU recently advanced east of Verbovoye.
In addition, videos published on February 22 show a Ukrainian serviceman operating in the northwestern part of Ternovatoye. ISW experts found no visual evidence that the Russians have held positions in Ternovatoye since February 6, 2026.
The ISW estimates that Ukrainian forces have recently liberated Andreevka, Ostapovskoye, Peschanoye, Nechaivka, Radostnoye, and Novoye Zaporizhye. In addition, analysts have not observed visual evidence of the presence of Russian troops in any of these localities for more than two weeks.
The Ukrainian armed forces' offensive in the south
In mid-February, so-called "war correspondents" in the Russian Federation spread information about the alleged counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces on the border of Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. At the same time, the Southern Defense Forces clarified what the situation on this section of the front actually is.
Later, on February 20, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian military had de-occupied about 300 square kilometers of territory in the south.
In addition, on February 22, there was information about the active actions of the AFU Airborne Assault Troops in the Alexandrovsky direction. Their key goal is to prevent the Russian Federation's plans for further advancement within Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.
Also yesterday, February 23, the AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces during the offensive in the south liberated eight settlements and about 400 square kilometers of territory.
