A Russian reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs was spotted in temporarily occupied Sevastopol with significant damage after shelling.

This was reported by Telegram channel "Crimean Wind".

"The scouts took a photo of the medium reconnaissance ship "Ivan Khurs" of project 18280 in Sevastopol near the pier in Hollandia Bay," the report says.

It is noted that the shelling of the ship demolished part of the captain's deckhouse, the pipe, and the mast, which housed antennas, is "dressed" in scaffolding. The stern equipment is also missing, and the tank deck is covered with camouflage netting.

What is known about the ship

"Ivan Khurs" is a Russian medium reconnaissance ship designed to operate in sea and ocean areas. It is the first serial ship of Project 18280, and one of two built under this project.

It was incorporated into the Russian Black Sea Fleet in June 2018. The ship was named in honor of Vice Admiral Ivan Khurs, who headed the intelligence of the USSR Navy's Main Staff from 1979 to 1987. The ship is capable of conducting radio reconnaissance and electronic warfare.

The strike on the "Ivan Khurs"

It should be recalled that on March 25, 2024, it first became known about the probable defeat of the Russian ship "Ivan Khurs" during a strike on Crimea on March 23.

Subsequently, the AFU Navy confirmed the defeat of the Russian warship. In 2024, it was reported that it had damaged reconnaissance equipment in its aft section.
