The Telegraph: Trump Could Start Another War In Ukraine

Potential scenarios are voiced.

U.S. attempts to accelerate an agreement between Russia and Ukraine may inadvertently set the stage for a new escalation of the conflict.

According to The Telegraph.

U.S. President Donald Trump has sent his special envoy Steve Whitkoff to a new round of talks in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for February 3-4. The goal of the meetings is declared to be to reach "any agreement" between Moscow and Kiev.

The discussions are centered on the territorial issue - the status of a part of the Donetsk region that the Russian army has failed to seize in nearly four years of full-scale invasion.

The Kremlin's interests

According to the publication, dictator Vladimir Putin is seeking in the talks to gain what he has failed to win on the battlefield.

"But that is still not enough for Putin. He insists not only on keeping what he has now, but also on getting even more," the publication notes.

Experts warn that ceding these territories to Russia could set the stage for a new military campaign.

Implications for Ukraine

The territories of the Donetsk region are of strategic importance due to the dense defense infrastructure in the areas of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.

Transferring these positions to the Kremlin could allow the Russian army to build up its forces and plan a new invasion.

At the same time, Trump and Whitkoff, according to analysts, do not fully consider Moscow's long-term goals.

Potential Scenarios

If the Ukrainian side agrees to concessions, it would give Russia a chance to prepare for the next phase of the war.

The other option - maintaining control of the territory - would require pressure on the Kremlin, including through arms supplies and economic sanctions, to curb Moscow's ambitions and prevent a second offensive.
