Media: Russia Has Intercepted A Number Of Key European Satellites

  • 4.02.2026, 13:07

What data could the Kremlin have obtained?

Russian spacecraft may have intercepted the communications of at least ten key satellites of European countries, jeopardizing sensitive information of the continent's states.

This is reported by Financial Times.

According to the publication, European security officials believe that two Russian spacecraft were able to intercept a number of satellites. This could lead to malfunctions or even their downing.

In addition, the sensitive information these satellites were transmitting, particularly classified government and some military messages, was at risk.

For several years, military and civilian space authorities in Europe have been monitoring the activities of Luch-1 and Luch-2, two Russian objects that have repeatedly made suspicious maneuvers in orbit.

Since its launch in 2023, Luch-2 has come close to 17 European satellites.

Russian intelligence collected in space could help Moscow coordinate hybrid attacks on European countries, particularly for hacking operations.
