New details about the financier's ties to Russian Federation.

In 2011, when filling out an application for a Russian visa, American financier Jeffrey Epstein listed the Moscow-based Vympel NGO as the inviting organization. Only the International Public Organization "Vympel" existed with this name in Russia at that time, writes Nova Gazeta Europe.

"Vympel" - is the name of a special FSB unit that carries out anti-terrorist operations. On the page dedicated to the associations of veterans of the special unit there is a link to the website of the "Vympel" (now it does not work). The head of Vympel - The head of Vympel is FSB veteran and KGB colonel Sergei Shestov, who once earned personal praise from Yuri Andropov for his operations in Afghanistan.

Epstein was helped by Sergei Belyakov, a graduate of the FSB Academy, to write a letter of invitation from Vympel veterans.

Belyakov has held a number of government positions in Russia: he worked at the Ministry of Economic Development, headed the board of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, and since 2016 has worked at the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), which is headed by Kirill Dmitriev - one of Putin's informal representatives in negotiations with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Belyakov is now in charge of government relations at the cybersecurity foundation Cyberus.

Sergei Belyakov's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein was first reported in 2024 Dossier Center. Belyakov, who came out of the FSB, was helping Epstein with a delicate request: to deal with the Russian woman Guzel Ganieva, who was blackmailing his friend Leon Black.

Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to a prostitution case and was arrested again in 2019 on charges of child sex trafficking. According to court records, at least 40 underage girls were abused at his residences. In August 2019, Epstein committed suicide in prison. His accomplice Gislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
