Zelensky Appointed Acting Head Of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service

Until January 2, the Ukrainian SVR was headed by Oleh Ivashchenko.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has appointed the first deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Oleh Lugovsky as the acting head of the agency, a decree by the head of state said.

Lugovskyy has held senior positions in the service since 2024, he was a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the May 2025 talks with Russia in Istanbul.

Before January 2, the Ukrainian SVR was headed by Oleh Ivashchenko, Zelensky appointed him head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
