There were at least five or six powerful explosions.

Late in the evening of February 5, a series of powerful explosions took place in the Russian city of Belgorod. Before that, the region had declared an air alert due to a missile threat, writes "Focus".

After the explosions, power and heat supply disappeared in some parts of the city. Monitoring channels report that a local thermal power plant in Belgorod may have been hit.

Russian blogs say the city was allegedly attacked by US HIMARS missiles. In total, there were at least 5-6 loud explosions, with eyewitnesses reporting bright flashes in the sky and a column of smoke that rose after the strikes in one of Belgorod's neighborhoods.

According to the Telegram channel "Ashes," in addition to heat and light, locals have experienced television outages. In some places, TV broadcasting stopped working altogether.

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed the attack on the city.

"There is serious damage. I went to the place. In 35 minutes, we will assemble a meeting," the official said.

The local water utility said that after the attack in Belgorod there were power outages at several water utility facilities, particularly in the Borisovsky district.

Belgorodenergo instead said that in the village of Strelkovoye, near where the Frunzenskaya power substation is located, and in the center of Belgorod, where the strike was directed, "numerous damages are recorded on electrical equipment." They can't predict when light will return to the homes of residents.

Other consequences of the attack on Belgorod are being established.
