Survey.
A majority of German citizens favor stronger support for Ukraine during a war with Russia.
This is according to the results of a poll by the Insa Institute for the newspaper Bild.
About 52% of those surveyed said the West should provide more assistance to Ukraine if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire and peace talks. 28% of Germans believe aid should include both a military and financial component. 12% of respondents think aid should come in the form of either money or weapons.
At the same time, 35% think Germany should stop supporting Ukraine, while 13% did not answer.
The poll also showed that Germans fear a wider war, with 54% of respondents worried that Russia might attack a NATO member state such as Poland or Lithuania. However, this is about eight points less than in a poll conducted last September.
