Reza Pahlavi called on the security forces to immediately move to the side of the people while there is an opportunity.

Iran's Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi made the historic announcement after confirming Khamenei's death.

The son of Iran's last shah, Reza Pahlavi, who has been in exile for decades, called the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei the beginning of a "national holiday" and the virtual end of the Islamic Republic.

He compared Khamenei to the mythical thief Zahak, a symbol of ruthless tyranny in Persian culture.

"Ali Khamenei, the bloodthirsty Zahak (a powerful evil figure in Persian mythology) of our time, the murderer of tens of thousands of Iran's bravest sons and daughters, has been erased from the pages of history. With his death, the Islamic Republic has virtually fallen into decline and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history," the prince wrote in X.

Ultimatum to the army and police

Pehlavi's address focused on the security forces. Thus, in his address, he called on the security forces to immediately come to the side of the people while the door to the future is still open for them.

He warned the IRGC, the military and the police that any attempt to defend the crumbling system or to appoint a successor to Khamenei is a road to nowhere.

The main points of the ultimatum

No legitimacy: Any new "successor" would have no power and would be recognized as complicit in the regime's crimes.

Last Chance: Pahlavi bluntly told security forces that now was their final moment to join the patriots.

Transition Guarantees: The prince called on the army to help ensure the country's stable transition to a free and prosperous future.
