Inflation Is Accelerating In Belarus

Grocery prices are rising especially fast.

Annual inflation in Belarus amounted to 5.6% in February, reports the National Statistics Committee. For comparison, in January, the figure was higher - 6.4%. Food prices have increased most noticeably over the past year.

Food products rose by 8.7% in February in annual terms. Non-food products increased in price by 2.1%, and paid services - by 5.4%.

In monthly terms, inflation in February amounted to 0.6% compared to January. Food prices rose the most during the month - by 0.8%. Paid services rose in price by 0.7%, non-food products - by 0.2%.

In general, in January-February inflation reached 1% compared to December last year. The most notable price growth for this period also fell on food products and paid services - they rose in price by 1.4%.
