Ukraine began preparations for assault actions in the Alexandrovsky direction as early as the end of 2025, introducing assault units there to deliver a preparatory strike to the enemy. This is reported by "Ukrainska Pravda" with reference to the military.

"Offensive actions in the Alexandrovsky direction and in the area of Gulyaypol is actually a single plan. But it was not concentrated in the area of Gulyaypol. For example, we went to the area between Dobropillya (Zaporizhzhya region, - ed.) and Novy Zaporizhzhya to give the enemy a flank strike, to press him there, so that it became a prerequisite for further liberation of the Dnipropetrovsk region," the commander of the 1st separate assault regiment Dmitry "Perun" Filatov told the publication.

He noted that the 1st regiment then broke through the defense of the Russian invaders 12 kilometers deep into the Russian positions. At the same time, he notes that these actions do not constitute a "counteroffensive," and calls the gains a "minor success."

"These are offensive actions to improve our tactical position and stabilize the front line in the area where the enemy was moving his forces. He saw this as his pre-spring campaign - I emphasize, precisely pre-spring. I am sure that the enemy will start the spring campaign first of all in the Pokrovsky direction - having built a clear line of defense. And then - on Limanskoye," he added.

At the same time, the commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 95th Airmobile Brigade Anton Derlyuk noted that his units entered this direction in late January. According to him, their task was to push back the Russian Federation beyond Dnipropetrovsk Region. The military officer said that using snow and fog, the Defense Forces units went into the rear of the Russian Federation and destroyed pilots of the enemy's reconnaissance wings. In general, he said, their brigade also advanced 10-11 kilometers behind the battle line.

"And then they have already cleaned up that area, which we quickly passed. In fact, we conducted sabotage operations. We surrounded about 60 Russians, captured three, the rest were destroyed," Derlyuk said.
