Second time this week.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the Kremlin press service reports.
The two politicians discussed the situation in the Middle East in connection with the US-Israeli operation.
"The Russian president reaffirmed his principled position in favor of the earliest de-escalation of the conflict, its resolution by political means. Massoud Pezeshkian thanked for Russia's support, in particular for providing humanitarian aid to Iran," the report says.
The previous time Putin and Pezeshkian spoke by phone was four days ago, on March 6. Then the Russian president expressed condolences over the assassination of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
