Ursula Von Der Leyen: EU Preparing Options For Lower Energy Prices

Europe will make a mistake if it goes back to Russian energy.
This was announced by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, speaking today, March 11, in the European Parliament.
The European Union, according to the politician, is preparing options to reduce energy prices, such as better use of power purchase agreements, state aid measures and subsidies or gas price caps.
"In the current crisis situation, some believe that we should abandon our long-term strategy and even return to Russian fossil fuels. That would be a strategic mistake," the European Commission president added.
Oil prices fell back below $100 a barrel when it was reported that the G7 group was considering releasing strategic oil reserves to cushion the impact of soaring energy prices.
