Zelensky Addressed Trump: Put Pressure On Putin, Not On Me

The Ukrainian leader gave the US president a simple "formula for ending the war".

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said that the US should put more pressure on Russia, not him, to end the war. In addition, security guarantees are needed to form the basis of a peace agreement.

This is reported by Politico.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine supports the negotiations and noted the key influence of US President Donald Trump in them. At the same time, he noted that the US should put more pressure specifically on Russia.

"We don't trust Russia, but I think and believe that the Americans really want to end this war. I hope they will help us, but we need more pressure on Russia, not on me," his statement said.

Politico recalled that during talks in December, the United States revealed that the U.S. was willing to provide Ukraine with a form of security guarantees that would form the basis of any peace agreement. However, Zelensky emphasized that there are still no details on this

"Let's be honest. It's very important for us, but we don't have a clear answer," the Ukrainian president said.

In addition, Zelensky described how Trump asked him whether U.S. security guarantees could be stronger than NATO.

"Yes, today it depends on you. It's up to you, Mr. President. May God bless us if we get security guarantees stronger than NATO. But what will come after you? And what will be after me?" the Ukrainian president replied.

He also noted the need for security guarantees to be approved by national parliaments and the US Congress. According to him, this will make it possible to be sure that future administrations will not be able to reject them.
