U.S. strategic bombers have various advantages.
The U.S. B-1B Lancer and B-2 Spirit strategic bombers have different capabilities for striking well-defended targets. One of them can carry significantly more ammunition, while the other relies on stealth and precision attack on the most fortified targets.

The B-1B Lancer is considered one of the record holders among the U.S. Air Force aircraft in terms of combat load. It can carry up to 34,000 kilograms of bombs in its internal compartments, allowing for powerful and large-scale strikes in a single sortie. For example, the aircraft can simultaneously drop up to 84 Mk-82 bombs or carry up to 24 GBU-31 JDAM guided munitions.
B-2 Spirit has a smaller maximum load of about 18 thousand kilograms. However, its main advantage is its stealth technology, which allows the aircraft to penetrate modern air defenses and engage targets without significant support from other forces.
The B-2 can carry up to 80 Mk-82 munitions or about 16 GBU-31 precision-guided bombs when using conventional bombs. Despite its smaller armament, this particular bomber is capable of using the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator super-heavy penetrator bomb weighing over 13 tons. Such weapons are designed to destroy deeply defended bunkers and underground facilities.
Another important difference between the aircraft is related to their actions in conditions of strong air defenses. The B-1B Lancer lacks stealth technology and usually requires cover from other aircraft to reduce the risk of being hit by air defense systems such as the S-300. The B-2 Spirit, on the other hand, due to its stealthy design, is able to perform combat missions virtually independently.
The B-1B Lancer is thus effective for large-scale bombing attacks over large areas, while the B-2 Spirit is better suited for pinpoint attacks against the most heavily defended and deepest targets.
