It Snowed In The Sahara Desert

Snow has fallen in the town of Ain Sefra in Algeria, according to a video posted by local photographer Karim Bouchetata on Facebook.

The day before, temperatures in the town had dropped to sub-zero levels. Ain Sefra ("Gateway to the Desert") is located on the northern edge of the Sahara, near the Atlas mountain range.

According to the newspaper, snow has fallen in this city several times in the past 10 years. Before 2016, the phenomenon was last recorded in 1979.
