Pillars of smoke could be seen from afar.

A fire continues at the Tikhoretsk oil transshipment depot in Russia's Krasnodar region after a drone attack - two fuel tanks are burning at once. This fire has been going on for more than a day, writes OOBZ.UA.

The local authorities report about it. In turn, the Russian service of Radio Liberty has provided satellite images that show two fuel tanks burning on the territory of the transshipment base in the city after the drone strike, not one as previously thought.

Situation in the city

The local "Rosprodnadzor" authority said the fire in the city and the air exceeded the maximum permissible concentration of benzene and xylene. The authority did not specify exactly where and what caused the fire in the city.

Local residents say - and this is confirmed by images from space - that the plume of smoke from the fire stretched almost 15 kilometers.

The head of the Tikhoretsky district Anatoly Perepelin confirmed that "during the drone attack" there was a "small fire" at the refinery, he said there were no casualties.

At first, regional authorities reported that the fire area was "no more than 100 square meters," but a few hours later, the operational headquarters specified that the fire had "spread to four thousand square meters."

"257 people are involved in extinguishing the fire, including EMERCOM specialists, 69 units of equipment and a fire train," the operative headquarters said.

On the night of March 12, explosions erupted in the town of Tikhoretsk in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation after an air alert was declared. The target of the drone attack was a local oil depot.

According to local residents, numerous explosions were heard in the city area at night, after which a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the oil depot.

The Tikhoretsk oil hub is one of the largest oil transshipment points in the south of Russia. It is operated by a company that is part of the structure of Transneft. It is a rather large oil depot and transshipment terminal.
