Representatives of diplomatic missions abroad decided not to return home.

Several Iranian diplomats abroad have given up their posts and asked host countries to grant them asylum.

According to the opposition television channel "Iran International", at least two diplomats working in Europe and Australia are concerned.

An Iranian embassy official in Copenhagen Alireza Sohbati and a diplomat at the diplomatic mission in Canberra Mohammad Purnajaf have reportedly given up their posts and submitted asylum requests. The publication's sources said that Purnajaf previously served as Charge d'Affaires at the Iranian Embassy in Australia.

The cases were the first requests for asylum by Iranian diplomats since the current military conflict began, according to media reports. It is noted that such precedents have occurred before, even before the outbreak of hostilities.

At the same time, Iran's Charge d'Affaires in Austria Gholamreza Derikvand and an employee of Iran's permanent mission to the UN in Geneva Alireza Jeirani Hokmabad had previously made similar requests to European countries.
