Volodymyr Zelensky: Ukraine Needs A Clear Prospect Of EU Accession

Ukraine counts on further support of France in the process of European integration and expects the definition of a clear prospect of membership in the European Union. This was stated by Vladimir Zelensky during a joint media interaction with French President Emmanuel Macron, UNN reports.

The Ukrainian president recalled that France played a key role in granting Kiev the status of candidate for EU membership.

"We remember how well the leadership of France and Emmanuel personally worked when Ukraine received the status of candidate for membership in the European Union. It was a historic step," Zelensky said.

He noted that it is now important to move forward and determine the prospect of full membership.

"There should be a clear date for Ukraine's accession to the European Union. We want this very much so that Russia does not have the opportunity to block Ukraine through its allies in Europe," the Ukrainian president emphasized.

Zelensky also said that in order to achieve a lasting peace, it is necessary to keep pressure on Russia.

"Russia must end this war. And for this purpose, it is important to maintain determination and increase sanctions pressure," he concluded.
