Russia is losing Cuba.

Russian writer and Kremlin supporter Zakhar Prilepin said Russia could lose one of its longtime partners, Cuba. According to him, Moscow has invested tens of billions of dollars in support of the Cuban regime over the decades since the Soviet era, but these investments could be in vain, "Dialogue" noted.

The reason for such statements were reports of talks between Havana and Washington amid a serious economic crisis and energy problems on the island. Prilepin believes that in the case of rapprochement with the United States, Cuba may gradually abandon significant ties with Russia and China.

He also criticized Russian foreign policy, noting that instead of a well-thought-out strategy, only spectacular presentations and one-off projects are often offered. In his opinion, when funding for such initiatives ends, Russia is left without real results.

In addition, Prilepin admitted that the Kremlin's plans to increase its influence in the countries of the so-called "Global South" have not actually had the expected effect. He noted that many high-profile cooperation projects with African, Asian and Latin American states looked in practice more like political actions than a long-term strategy.
