Countries will not patrol the Strait of Hormuz.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that his country will not participate in patrolling the Strait of Hormuz, as called for by US President Donald Trump. This is reported by Tagesschau.

"We will not participate in this conflict," Wadeful said.

He said the US and Israel have reported that the goal of their attacks was to destroy Iran's military capabilities, particularly its nuclear and missile programs. Germany expects to receive information about the achievement of this goal.

"Then we would be more than happy to take part in negotiations. Only through negotiations can security in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea be ensured," he said.

On the possible expansion of the EU's Aspides naval mission to the Strait of Hormuz, Wadeful said he was "very skeptical" about whether it could provide more security in the strait.

It became known earlier that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer refused Trump's request to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz to help unblock it.
