Polish fighter jets have intercepted another Russian reconnaissance aircraft in the skies above the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on Monday, March 16. The incident occurred on March 13.

Two MiG-29 fighters of the Polish Air Force "intercepted, visually identified and escorted out of its area of responsibility" a Russian Il-20 aircraft, the command said in a message on the social network X. According to the Polish side, the plane was carrying out "the ninth reconnaissance mission in international airspace this year".

It was traveling with its transponder turned off, without providing a flight plan, the command said. No violations of Polish airspace were recorded.
