The head of the White House wants the operation to continue.
US President Donald Trump allegedly rejected recent attempts by Iranian officials to resume talks, CNN reported, citing its sources.
Two senior White House officials said on condition of anonymity that the Iranian side had been in contact with Trump's special envoy Steve Whitkoff and other administration officials in recent days, hoping to re-establish diplomatic contacts. However, Trump has said he is not interested in talks right now.
"The president has said he's willing to talk, but not right now because he wants Operation Epic Fury to continue unabated," one of the interlocutors said.
Some U.S. Middle East allies have offered the White House to broker talks to end the war and Iran's nuclear program, but that offer was also rejected.
Sources said one reason for Trump's refusal is uncertainty over the condition and whereabouts of Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's new supreme leader and son of the late Ali Khamenei.
