In protest of the war with Iran.
The head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, has resigned, saying that the reason for such a decision was the war against Iran, writes TIA.
The 45-year-old Kent, who coordinated counterterrorism efforts in the Donald Trump administration, called on the White House to "change course."
Joe Kent was a member of Trump's team; his nomination to head the National Counterterrorism Center was approved by the U.S. Senate last July.
"Iran posed no immediate threat to our country, and it is clear that we started this war under pressure from Israel and its powerful lobby in America," Kent said, addressing the president via social media.
"Until June 2025, you understood that wars in the Middle East were a trap in which America was losing the precious lives of our patriots and sacrificing the wealth and prosperity of the country," Kent continued. - As an 11-time combat veteran and husband of a Gold Star recipient who lost his beloved wife Shannon in a war waged by Israel, I cannot support sending a new generation to die in a war that has no benefit to the people of America."
Kent is a CIA Special Forces veteran. His wife Shannon Kent, who served in the Navy as a cryptologist, was killed in a suicide attack in Syria in 2019.
Kent also alleges that "senior Israeli officials" and influential American journalists spread "disinformation" that undermined the Trump administration's "America First" policy.
