Ismail Khatib is one of the key figures of the Ayatollahs' regime.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the head of Iranian intelligence Ismail Khatib was killed in Tehran on the night of March 18.

Khatib had headed Iran's Intelligence Ministry since 2021 and was a member of the inner circle of the country's top leadership. He previously held key positions in the security structures, the judiciary and the supreme leader's office.

Under his leadership, the agency was engaged in both suppression of domestic opposition and foreign operations against Israel and Western countries.

Khatib was considered one of the key functionaries of the regime and had close ties with Mojtaba Khamenei.

The US had earlier offered a $10 million reward for his capture or removal. Official Tehran has yet to comment on the matter.
