Officials have not changed residences, but that option is now being considered.

Unidentified drones have been spotted over the Fort McNair military base in Washington, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth live.

It was reported by The Washington Post.

A Trump administration official said the military is keeping a closer eye on potential threats because of heightened alert levels amid U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

The source said that over the past 10 days, several drones were recorded over the base where Rubio and Hegseth live on a single night. That prompted increased security measures and a White House meeting on how to proceed.

The two sources said the drone launches over the Fort McNair base prompted officials to consider relocating Rubio and Hegseth. However, a Trump administration official says the ministers have not moved. Their field was mentioned in the media in October.

The drone sightings in Washington came as the U.S. declared a global threat level for foreign diplomatic missions and stepped up protection measures for a number of bases at home.

This week, McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Bases in New Jersey and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida raised their protection level to "Charlie." That means commanders have intelligence about a possible attack or danger. The only higher level remains "Delta" - it is put in place when an attack has already occurred or is expected.
