The Venezuelan opposition leader will return home in the coming weeks.

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said she plans to return to the country in the coming weeks. She said this in a video published on her social network account X.

"Now the world knows: the transition to democracy in Venezuela is inevitable," Machado said, "I will return to Venezuela in the coming weeks. She also thanked US authorities for the operation to capture dictator Nicolas Maduro. Earlier in an interview with US publication Politico, she said Venezuela could hold presidential elections as early as this year.

Machado received the Nobel Peace Prize last December. Since the U.S. captured Nicolas Maduro in January, her role in Venezuelan politics remains in question. US President Donald Trump has said he would "very much like" her to be involved in politics in the country. At the same time, many analysts note that the White House is betting more on the entourage of the former Venezuelan president and is "disappointed" in Ms. Machado.
