The Lebanese government has imposed a ban on armed activities of the Shiite Hezbollah movement throughout the country. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Reuters reports.
The prime minister said that from now on, the organization's role in the country will be exclusively political. He noted that Lebanon's cabinet rejects any military operations initiated from the country's territory outside the framework of state institutions.
In addition, the Lebanese authorities intend to work to respect the truce and promote steps to prevent an escalation of the conflict, Salam emphasized.
