For the first time since the Kursk operation.

In February 2026, for the first time since the Kursk offensive operation, the Ukrainian Defense Forces regained control over a larger territory than the enemy was able to seize.

This was announced on Monday, March 2, by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexandr Syrsky.

"We are conducting effective active operations in the Oleksandrivsk and Gulyaipol directions. Contrary to repeated statements of the Russian leadership, we only strengthen control over Kupyansk and reduce the number of enemy saboteurs in the city," he emphasized.

The head of the AFU stressed that the Ukrainian defenders continue to contain the Russian occupants in the area of Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration.
