Photo report.
A new book by American historian and publicist Yuri Felshtinsky "Natalia Radina's Belarus: journalist against dictator" was presented in Tallinn, the Estonian website Delfi writes.
The book was published in three languages - Belarusian, Ukrainian and Russian. The discussion was attended by the heroine of the publication, journalist and editor-in-chief of the website "Charter'97" Natallia Radzina, coordinator of the civil campaign "European Belarus" Dmitry Bondarenko, as well as journalist and writer Arkadi Babchenko.
The book tells the story of modern Belarus through the fate of one of the most famous representatives of opposition journalism. At the center of the narrative is Natallia Radzina's professional and personal path, including her work in independent media, participation in the protest movement, arrests, prison experience and forced departure from the country.
The author guides the reader through the key events of the modern history of Belarus - from the mid-1990s to the present, touching upon the topics of political repression, pressure on the media and confrontation between the authorities and civil society. The book also describes meetings with prominent international politicians and public figures.
According to the author's intention, the publication not only captures the chronicle of events, but also emphasizes the European identity of Belarus, as well as the ongoing struggle for democratic change.
Organizers noted that the book is addressed not only to specialists - historians, journalists and political scientists - but also to a wide audience interested in contemporary politics and history of Eastern Europe.
The Charter97.org website will soon publish a detailed report from the meeting.
