Lukashenko Must Remain Unhandsome

It is in Ukraine's national interest.
I am always in awe of the news about the release of Lukashenko's political prisoners. And yesterday, 250 people were released.
The list of those released includes journalist Ekaterina Andreeva, blogger Eduard Palchis, and human rights activists Nasta Loiko and Valentin Stefanovich.
The Belarusian dictator is playing a simple and clear game: like a real slave trader, he trades his citizens for preferential treatment from the United States. The main one is the lifting of sanctions. First of all, he is interested in the possibility to sell through the Baltic ports the products of Belaruskali, one of the largest enterprises in this sphere in the world.
It is in our national interest to do everything possible to keep these sanctions in place and prevent Lukashenko from becoming a "handshake" politician for the leaders of the West. After all, this is the first step towards the lifting of sanctions against Russia and Putin's return to legal politics.
It is for this purpose that last week the Ukrainian parliament adopted an appeal initiated by me to the governments of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to maintain and strengthen the economic isolation of Russia and Belarus.
