Lukashenko officials complain about sanctions.
The decision of Visa payment system to disconnect cards of three Belarusian banks in the EU is "a typical example of the phenomenon of excessive application of sanctions. This was stated by Charge d'Affaires of Belarus to the EU Sergei Panasiuk, writes "Zerkalo".
"We continue to insist on the illegality of restrictive measures, not approved by the UN Security Council. But even if we ignore this aspect, the EU sanctions today are an absolutely confusing non-transparent tool, applied not only against Belarus, but also against dozens of countries, which even the European officials themselves do not understand. Excessive use of sanctions is of particular concern, since in practice, in particular, humanitarian exemptions do not work, and the sanctions become just an inhuman, indiscriminate punitive tool of Brussels against unwanted countries," said the diplomat.
Reminder, March 19, Belagroprombank, Alfa-Bank and Belgazprombank warned their customers that their Visa cards in the EU countries, as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, had stopped working since March 18. Alfa-Bank attributed this restriction to sanctions.
