Residents of Sujan district, Kursk region, Russia, who were forced to leave their homes because of the hostilities, held a gathering to express their dissatisfaction with the cancellation of payments and the delay in the issuance of housing. The reason for the protest was the termination of monthly payments, as well as delays in providing housing certificates. People spent several hours on the square, but representatives of the regional authorities did not come out to them.
After that, the participants of the gathering recorded a collective video message to the governor of the Kursk region Alexander Khinshtein. In it, they emphasized that they left their homes forced, not on their own initiative, and demanded that they be recognized as having a special legal status. In addition, they insist on the cancellation of the application to them of the norms applicable to voluntary resettlers, and demand the return of monthly payments of 65,000 rubles.
The protesters also reminded that the "counter-terrorist operation regime" is still in effect in the region, and called to maintain the payments until it is canceled.
According to information from local publics, law enforcement officers were present at the site. They demanded that the participants remove the video recordings of the meeting and checked the documents of those gathered.
