At least 48 people are injured when a Colombian Air Force C-130 Hercules plane crashed in the southern Colombian city of Puerto Legisamo. A total of 125 people were on board. This is reported by the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo.
The crash was confirmed by General Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda. He said the plane was on a flight from Puerto Leguizamo to Puerto Asis and was carrying members of the Colombian army. There were 114 passengers and 11 crew members on board the plane. All of the injured were taken to hospitals in Puerto Leguizamo. Two air ambulances were sent to the scene to transport the injured.
The plane crashed on the morning of March 23. After the crash, Colombian President Gustavo Petro published a post on social network X, where he announced his decision to modernize the country's air fleet. According to him, the combat effectiveness of Colombia's armed forces has been declining for fifteen years. "I hope no one died in this terrible accident that should never have happened," Mr. Petro wrote.
