The chairman of the board of Ukrainian Oschadbank Yuriy Katsion has spoken about the incident with the detention of the bank's collectors in Hungary, Censor.net reports.

According to him, the cash was transported to ensure stable cash accounting in Ukraine. Ground logistics is the only route for importing currency into the country, as air transportation is currently unavailable due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

"Under the conditions of the war, the demand for currency remains stably high. Currently, Oschadbank has suspended the import of cash into Ukraine. The National Bank covers the demand existing on the market from its own reserves. However, the situation requires a solution, as the volumes are quite significant and the financial system needs to saturate the market with cash," Katsion explained.

On March 12, two cars with signs of damage and without money and valuables were returned to Oschadbank . Also, communication and video surveillance equipment was seized from the cars.

"Later, by a resolution of the Hungarian government and then the Hungarian parliament, cash and valuables of Oschadbank were detained for 60 days. The Bank initiated criminal, procedural and international legal steps, provided information to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and relevant international counterparties and creditors in accordance with our contractual obligations," he added." he added.
