Details.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck a uranium concentrate production facility in Iran's Yazd province. The IDF said in its Telegram channel.
"This plant is the only one of its kind in Iran, where raw materials extracted from the ground are mechanically and chemically processed for subsequent use as raw material for uranium enrichment," the IDF said. The agency said the process is the beginning of the nuclear weapons production chain.
The Israeli strikes targeted a key infrastructure "used for unique production processes," the Israeli military said. "The strike on this facility deprives the Iranian terrorist regime of the raw materials needed for these processes and further undermines Iran's nuclear weapons program," the statement said.
The Israeli military's attack on the Yazd plant this evening was reported by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. According to a preliminary investigation, the attack did not result in the release of radioactive material outside the compound and there was no danger to residents. Iran also announced today an IDF strike on a heavy-water research reactor in the town of Khondab. According to local officials, no one was killed in the attacks.
