Fuel surcharges on some flights to Egypt are being raised again.

Due to the rise in world fuel prices, the national air carrier Belavia announced another increase in fuel surcharge for flights to Egypt. May 1, the surcharge will amount to 30 conventional units per person on this direction. This is stated in a letter from the tour operator, published in Threads by tourism manager Tatiana Khalikova, writes "Mirror".

Belavia earlier warned its partners about the increase in fuel surcharges for a number of destinations from March 17. The changes affected flights to Egypt, Vietnam (Nha Trang and Danang), China, Turkey (Istanbul). Segment surcharge amounted from $35 to $140 per person depending on the route, reported Minsk travel agency Travel Style.

The main reasons for the increase in the cost of the fee were called the lengthening of routes due to bypassing conflict zones and rising fuel prices.

The changes affected Belavia flights to Egypt (the additional fee amounted to $40), Vietnam (from $40 for a flight to Nha Trang to $140 for Da Nang), China (35) and Turkey (35).

"For a family of three people, it's an automatic plus $120 ($40 per person when flying to Egypt or Nha Trang - Ed.) to the cost of the tour. Ed.) to the cost of the round-trip tour," explained the travel agency Tangerine Travel.

Tour agent from Borisov said in a video for her Instagram that if the client's application will be recalculated due to the increase in fuel surcharges, the clients will have to sign an additional agreement to the contract of tourist services.

March 27, travel agents received a new letter from one of the tour operators, which works on the Egyptian direction. It reported that Belavia is again "forced to increase fuel surcharges" from May 1. The surcharge will amount to 30 conventional units per person and will affect the following directions:

Minsk - Sharm el-Sheikh - Minsk,

Minsk - Hurghada - Minsk,

Vitebsk - Sharm el-Sheikh - Vitebsk,

Brest - Sharm el-Sheikh - Brest.

"These are the letters of "happiness" received today by travel agents from one of the tour operators in Egypt. That is, tourists initially agreed to an additional payment of 40 conventional units per person, signed supplementary agreements, paid extra, and a week later comes again an increase in fuel prices by another 30 conventional units per person," wrote travel agent Tatiana Khalikova, adding that such letters came not for all requests, as for some tours the tour operator was able to "take the extra payment.

In the comments the expert was asked whether a tourist can refuse to pay the extra fee, cancel the tour and buy a new one for the same dates, but from another operator.

"You can, but the prices are already higher than they were originally when booking, even if you add the fuel surcharge. And some hotels have already stopped (no rooms for the desired dates)," the travel agent explained.

March 10, Reuters news agency reported that several major airlines, including Australia's Qantas Airways, Scandinavian SAS, Hong Kong Airlines and New Zealand's Air New Zealand, reported that ticket prices had increased due to rising jet fuel prices.

While jet fuel cost an average of $85 to $90 a barrel before the Iran war began, the price rose to $150 to $200 afterward.
