The blackout was preceded by explosions.
On Sunday, March 29, powerful explosions erupted in Iran's capital, Tehran, and the neighboring city of Karaj, causing widespread power outages, Financial Times reported, citing Iranian state media.
According to local sources, the sounds of explosions were heard in the west, north and east of Tehran, with particularly severe blackouts affecting the eastern parts of the city.
In Karaji, west of the capital, the blasts were particularly loud in affluent neighborhoods, including Azimiya, which also caused significant power outages.
