Georgia's Only Refinery Completely Refuses Russian Oil

It is being replaced by Turkmen and Kazakh.

Georgian company Black Sea Petroleum's (BSP) Kulevi refinery will completely abandon Russian oil.

This is reported by Business Media.

"We will completely replace Russian oil with oil from Turkmenistan and then Kazakhstan, which will allow us to export products to the EU," said BSP CEO David Potskhveria.

He noted that the EU is now prohibited from importing oil products derived from Russian oil. At the same time, Potskhveria explained that the strategic goal of the company is to export to the European market.

CEO BSP noted that the obstacle to a complete rejection of oil from the aggressor country is the delay in the start of transit of Turkmen oil to Georgia from Azerbaijan.

"I certainly hope that this issue will be resolved soon and we will be able to launch this rail connection, followed by Kazakh oil and so on," he said.

The EU this month put BSP on a preliminary list of companies under sanctions for importing and refining Russian oil.
