How The B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber Attacked The Ayatollah Regime

New details of the successful attack.

During Operation Epic Fury, U.S. B-2 Spirit strategic stealth bombers once again distinguished themselves by entering Iranian airspace, hitting targets and leaving the area of operations without casualties - similar to last year's Operation Midnight Hammer, writes The National Interest (translated by Charter97.org).

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that B-2s equipped with 2,000-pound bombs attacked "fortified" ballistic missile positions inside Iran. According to the agency, four aircraft with call signs Petro 41-44 took part in the mission, departing from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. They were escorted by F-35, F-22 fighter jets and drones.

Because of weather conditions, the bombers landed at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas. There is no word on when they will return to Whiteman.

The B-2 Spirit remains one of the world's most technologically advanced bombers: its stealth, high range and ability to carry about 18 tons of weapons make it a key element of strategic operations. Only 21 of these aircraft have been built since 1997 (19 remain in service), making every one flown particularly valuable.

In recent years, B-2s have become increasingly involved in operations in the Middle East. In 2024 and 2025, these bombers struck Iran's nuclear facilities as well as Hussite positions in Yemen. On long missions like Midnight Hammer, they have spent more than 37 hours in the air, which allows them to avoid transferring crews and technicians to overseas bases.

In the new operation, the planes used 2,000-pound GBU-31 JDAM guided bombs. These munitions are designed to hit fortified targets and can correct the path using GPS and inertial navigation.

The Pentagon emphasizes: the B-2 strikes demonstrate the U.S. ability to launch precision attacks over long distances without risk to aircrews.
