Shahed came from an unexpected direction.

The Iranian Shahed drone that struck the British RAF Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus was launched from the Lebanese capital Beirut.

Associated Press reports Associated Press, citing an official from Cyprus.

One of the country's officials confirmed that the drone that damaged a hangar at the RAF Akrotiri airbase was flying specifically from Lebanon.

The official asked not to be named because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the attack, the AP stressed.

On the night of March 2, a drone attacked the British RAF Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus. There were no casualties as a result of the strike. The base itself received "minor damage."

On the same day Greece sent frigates and F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Cyprus. In addition, it was reported that because of the previous attack, military families from the base were temporarily relocated for security reasons.

On March 3, Clash Reports wrote that the wreckage of the Iranian drone Shahed-136, which attacked the British airbase in Cyprus, could contain elements of the Russian protected CRPA-antenna Kometa-M, which is used on Russian drones and missiles.
