Belgidromet Went Against Lukashenko

The forecasters argued with the dictator.

Lukashenko, who fancied himself a forecaster, made a forecast for the spring flood of 2026 and said there would be no big water, but on March 5 Belhydromet released its forecast, which contradicts the dictator's words.

Synoptics believe that the spring 2026 flood will be higher than in recent years, but, according to calculations, the maximum water levels on the rivers are predicted to be close to the average long-term values.

As for the floodplains of the rivers, they will be flooded. "The maximum water levels will approach dangerously high marks, when coastal areas are flooded," noted in Belgidromet.

The most difficult flood situation is expected in the basins of the Dnieper, Sozh and Pripyat rivers.
