Employees Of Ukrainian "Oschadbank" Were Kidnapped In Hungary Along With Collection Vehicles And Valuables

Ukrainian "Oschadbank" announced the kidnapping in Hungary of its employees, as well as two vehicles of the collection service and valuables. This is stated in the official statement of the bank.

"Today, March 5, 2026, two vehicles of the collection service of "Oschadbank", which were accompanied by 7 employees of the collection team, were groundlessly detained in Hungary during the regular transportation of foreign currency and bank metals between Raiffeisen Bank Austria and "Oschadbank Ukraine"," the statement reads.

According to GPS-signal data, illegally detained cars of "Oschadbank" are in the center of Budapest, near one of the power structures of Hungary. The location of the cars was confirmed by representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

At the same time, the whereabouts of the employees of "Oschadbank" remain unknown.

"The transportation of funds and valuables was carried out by "Oschadbank" within the framework and in fulfillment of an international agreement with Raiffeisen Bank, Austria. The cargo was formalized in accordance with international transportation rules and current European customs procedures. The amount of valuables in the stolen vehicles amounted to 40 million dollars, 35 million euros, 9 kilograms of jewelry. US dollars, 35 million euros, 9 kg of gold," the bank added.

Hungarian Prime Minister earlier made a new statement on the Druzhba pipeline damaged by Russian shelling. The politician, known for his pro-Russian statements, threatened to use force to restore Russian oil transit.

Hungary has "political and financial tools" to force Ukraine to resume oil transit, he said.
