The Captain Of The Belarusian Women's Rugby Team Was Convicted For "politics"

The athlete was sentenced on the eve of the March 8 holiday.
Rugby player Maria Shakuro, 35, has been sentenced to "domestic chemistry" under a political article. Her case is being considered by Minsk City Court, reports "Euroradio".
Maria Shakuro was tried for "promoting extremist activity" (part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code). Recently, this article has been applied to people detained in the "Gayun case". However, it's unknown exactly what the athlete was accused of.
Maria Shakuro is a famous rugby player, she was the captain of the national team of Belarus. She was the bronze medalist of the European Beach Rugby Championship in 2017.
At the same time she worked in furniture production.
In 2020, the athlete was arrested for 10 days, but then she was not touched. It is unknown when a criminal case was opened against Maria and whether she was in the pre-trial detention center.
