The Wall Street Journal: Ukraine And The U.S. Are Fighting Common Enemies
- 6.03.2026, 14:42
The U.S. military is increasingly shooting down Iranian drones - and such work is already familiar to the Ukrainian army.
Events in recent days show that the war in Ukraine has a direct link to U.S. security. This week, an Iranian drone attack in Kuwait killed six U.S. military personnel. Drones have also attacked targets in Saudi Arabia and hotels in Dubai. The strike on a civilian port in Kuwait showed how difficult it is to protect infrastructure from low-profile aerial threats, the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal noted.
Experts say such attacks have become possible after years of Iranian drones being used in the war against Ukraine. Iran began supplying drones to Shahed Russia back in 2022, and then helped organize their production in Russia's Yelabuga. Now thousands of drones are produced there every month. In fact, Ukraine has become a testing ground for these technologies.
In the meantime, Russia and Iran have improved the tactics of using drones, increased their combat capabilities and established mass production. Markings associated with Russian production have been spotted on the wreckage of drones used in attacks in the Middle East.
Analysts note: U.S. adversaries are cooperating and sharing experience in modern warfare. At the same time, the Ukrainian military already has unique experience in detecting, jamming and destroying drones and can share this knowledge with partners.
