Baku promises a response to Iran's aggression.
The Azerbaijani authorities have announced mobilization No. 1, within the framework of which the country's armed forces have been put on full combat readiness. At the same time, the call-up of reservists has begun, and military units are moving to combat positions or to pre-designated areas. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the republic, explaining the order of actions after the relevant decision of President Ilham Aliyev. The defense ministry's clarification was published in its Telegram channel.
On Thursday, March 5, two drones launched from Iranian territory attacked Nakhichevan. One hit the terminal building of the international airport located about 10 kilometers from the border, while the second one landed near a school in the village of Shakarabad. As a result, two people were injured and the airport building was damaged. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called the attack a gross violation of international law. The Iranian ambassador was summoned to deliver a note of protest, Baku also demanded Tehran to investigate and provide guarantees that such incidents will not happen again.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry declared that attacks on civilian infrastructure "will not go unanswered" and promised to take measures to protect sovereignty, population and critical facilities.
